The Different Components Of Web 2.0

from:

With the introduction of Web 2.0 so many different definitions have been introduced over the internet to understand it. In order to understand the real meaning and use of Web 2.0 you will have to understand its several categories and elements.

The basic theme in Web 2.0 is user participation. It is more about what the public wants and providing them with a better control of the content they read on the web and providing them with the ability to discuss and comment on all the content they read. It provides them with the flexibility to make new friends and become a part of the existing community without even actually stepping out of their house. Web 2.0 has so many different categories in which it can be divided. Some of the common social bookmarking websites are Stumble Upon, Delicious and others but these bookmarking sites allow you to share your favorite sites among the community members and allow you to use your list of favorite bookmarks using any computer.

Also there are social media websites like Flickr and YouTube. You can not only share content and pictures but you can easily share videos through these sites as well. You also have access to select with whom you want to share your video with. If you really like the video and want everyone in the world to look at it then you can choose to show it worldwide. You can also comment and rate on the videos. The other sites like Digg, Propeller and Mixx are the most powerful medium of attracting net traffic towards your websites. All these three social sites work on the system of voting. When you submit anything informative and knowledgeable then other members vote for it and on the basis of voting your story can be displayed on the first page and you may be able to get some heavy to handle traffic.

Social networking websites like Facebook and Myspace are generally used by people to make friends and chat with different people across the world. As you get to meet new people and chat with them, a large portion of people especially youngsters log into these sites without a miss. A huge portion of the worldwide population visits these websites everyday but harnessing the traffic can be tricky and you will find directing the traffic to a desired page little time consuming and technical.

And then we have the hybrid sites of Web 2.0. The most powerful hybrid sites are Techorati and Twitter. Twitter is basically an off shoot website whereas Technorati is a blog directory and has many unique features of Web 2.0 that keeps it above all. You also have a voting system in Technorati. The other element of Web 2.0 is blogging. Blogging is generally writing about yourself, your likes and interests and uploading pictures to share it among so many different bloggers. Blogs are typically interaction sites where you can comment and discuss over a hot topic with so many different people around the world.
